Juan Pablo is a Data Scientist from Colombia. His work as a software specialist at IBM evolved into developing software for journalists around data visualization and web applications. He was named Network Fellow of Harvard University for one of his solutions using Big Data to understand institutional corruption. Juan Pablo has helped different newsrooms, governmental organizations and NGO’s collect, analyze and explore public sources of data and has created tools for open data access and visualization to communicate better with citizens and provide them with better tools for storytelling and decision making. Through his data journalism portal Datasketch he leads several initiatives for the public appropriation of open data and visualization.
